Snow...Snow...Snow

On Tuesday, we got our first good snowstorm of the year. It wasn't exactly the blizzard of the century (or even what we have gotten before in DC) but was good enough for us since we haven't seen any in 3 years (and no, ice alone does not count). The weather (actually having four seasons) was one of things we were excited about when we moved back up here and the snow was at the top of my personal list. I, of course, had to work on Tuesday and watched it snow from my office window (those pics are below). In the meantime, the girls were out of school and Mo took so good pictures around the house.

Once I got home, me and K bundled up to go play. Kerrie and Carter bundled up to watch from the window. Mo wasn't too interested in the playing part at first but she eventually came around. We even got Granmomma on a sled.

Overnight, the snow turned to freezing rain and made it just a mess. The snow went from basically being like powder on Tuesday where your foot would sick right into it to being able to walk on top of it without it breaking on Wednesday morning. Driving to work Wednesday morning was pretty special. Enjoy.

Before getting into the rest of the pics, this is one of the last ones I took on Tuesday and wanted to show it right off the bat. I have already put it in my top 5 favorite pictures of all time. Classic stuff.

Here are the pictures I took from my office window throughout the morning. They were taken at 7:45, 8:30, 9:15, 10:00, and 12:30.

The base chapel at Bolling.

Random shots from the base.

My car around 3 o'clock about to head home.

Meanwhile, Mo took these around the house . . .

. . . and on the porch.

A Mo handprint.

Me and K all set. I had something going on with my eye so the glasses made an appearance.

And we're ready....

K immediately went for the snow angel.

After I took the initial test ride down the hill, K came running down to meet me . . . with disastrous results.

After her solo trip, she decided we needed to go together so off we went....and yes, we totally did that again.

Here we are heading down again...just not as successful as the time before.

After a few times, K decided she wanted to go solo without getting a push from me. This was the first attempt.

And the second attempt...and again, she totally did that again.

And here is the third attempt which got considerably more dangerous.

After watching for a few minutes, Mo couldn't stand it any longer.

And again . . .

Then we had to do the tandem sled with a little push.

Their attempt at going without a push didn't end quite so well.

K heading up for another go and the girls head down together.

K testing out the snow.

Mo doing a little supervising.

K talked her Granmomma into going with her....and off they went.
