DC Pics: Redux
This past weekend, the crew headed into DC for a little sightseeing. It got me thinking about the last time we lived here and how most of our first round of DC sightseeing pictures never made it onto the DC blog because, well, the DC blog didn't exist when we made the pictures. So here they are. I am sure Mo will be thrilled to see them. These are circa November 2003, July 2004, and Thanksgiving 2004.
A few of the trips did make it into the old DC blog however. Here is Derek and Lynn's trip from Dec 05/Jan 06 (they came for New Years) and Pop's visit when we went to the Air and Space Museum at Dulles.
Lincoln Memorial at night. Easily my favorite.
The girls with Mr. Lincoln. That is Big Mo on the right (I promise) and Kerrie holding K, who was roughly C's age now at the time of this picture in 2003. On the right is Mr. Lincoln at night. The monuments at night are really something you have to check out if you are up here. Puts a whole new perspective on them.
The girls with the National Mall in the background in November 2003. You'll notice the reflecting pool is empty. It was drained at the time because of the construction on the WWII Memorial. And yes, we walked in the empty pool and no, it is not very deep.
Kerrie and I and my dad and I at the same place but in July 2004. By then, the WWII Memorial was complete and the reflecting pool refilled. And no, we did not get in the pool this time.
Kerrie and Mo at the little-traveled Signers of the Declaration of Independence Memorial. Not many people no about it but it is a good one.
The Korean War Memorial. This one is quite haunting at night. The post linked above of Derek and Lynn's visit has a few pics of this one at night.
The Treasury Building in 2003. I am told it is still standing today....barely.
